Mr Stephen Phillips

Photo of Stephen PhillipsMr Stephen Phillips has an extensive background in the development and commercialisation of renewable energy technologies, both in Australia and internationally. He has lead several companies in accessing a range of international markets including India, Philippines, Malaysia, China (with Hong Kong), Taiwan, Indonesia and the USA.

He completed his Bachelor of Science at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia, with a Master of Electrical Engineering from Curtin University, Perth, Australia. From 1979-1986 Mr Phillips managed the Research Centre at the Solar Energy Research Institute of Western Australia.

His research at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, USA awarded him with a Churchill Fellowship in 1987 for Solar Energy Research. After holding the position of Principal Investigator from 1986-1989 at the Murdoch University Energy Research Institute, Mr Phillips became Managing Director at Advanced Energy Systems Pty. Ltd. Australia. Since 2004, Mr Phillips has been a Director of Optimal Power Solutions.
He has been involved in and directed many research & development projects funded by the Australian and Western Australian governments in the field of Renewable Energy technologies. Having some 50 papers published in the field of renewable energy systems technology since 1987, Mr Phillips has also been a keynote speaker at APEC conferences in Indonesia as well as the Japanese Government Institute of Science & Technology, Tokyo. Mr Phillips also operates as a consultant specialising in photovoltaic technologies as well as renewable energy for the Australian Government, the Queensland Premier's Department and Murdoch University.

Dr Swati Purakayastha

Photo of Swati PurakayasthaBorn 31st December, 1965, Dr. Purakayastha completed her Bachelor in Electrical Engineerng with a Masters in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 1989 and 1991 respectively. Dr. Purakayastha was awarded a Ph D (Engineering) from Jadavpur University in 1995 on Thin Film Technology and its application on Photovoltaic cells.

Dr. Purakayastha is a professional member of the following: Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) USA, the Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of Solar Energy Society of India and a Life member of the Indian Association for Cultivation of Science, India.

Dr. Purakayastha runs professional courses in Energy Management and Audit, conducted by the School of Energy Studies at Jadavpur University as well as courses in VLSI Technology, organised by IC Design and Fabrication Centre, Jadavpur University. She has several publications in different International and National Journals of Science and Technology. Professionally involved as a Technical Editor at the Institution of Engineers India since 1995, Dr. Purakayastha later joined the School of Energy Studies, Jadavpur University.
Receiving the Women Scientist Award from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in 2003, she has worked as a scientist with the School of Energy Studies at Jadavpur University where she has several Ph. D students who are working in the field of Renewable Energy.

Dr Rachmat Mulyadi

Dr Rachmat holds degrees in Physics culminating in a Ph D in solid state devices and photovoltaic technology. He has been a senior official in the Indonesian Government Bureau of Science and Technology and was instrumental in establishing World Bank financing of solar energy projects In Indonesia.

He has held director positions in several corporations in Indonesia and is currently director of Optimal Power Indonesia. Dr Rachmat is focused on developing commercial opportunities for the company, especially in region contracts under the Indonesian Government's autonomy program.

Mr Jeyaram Subramaniam

Photo of Jeyarem SubramaniamMr Jeyaram Subramaniam has had a long involvement in the renewable energy area. He was a successful entrepreneur in Malaysia since 1995 setting up several companies to promote and apply solar photovoltaics to corporate clients.

He is currently on the board of several Malaysian companies and plays an active role in the development and management of projects in the region. With his input the Malaysian market has been significantly developed since 2004 and has resulted in a several high profile projects coming to fruition.

Mr Subramaniam was previously a senior engineering and support officer in the Merchant Marine service holding down important positions in a number of ocean going freight companies.
